SOUTHERN REGIONAL PASO FINO HORSE ASSOCIATION

GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING

DECEMBER 17, 2003

President Richard Raymond called the meeting to order at 7:25 p.m.

Board Members Present:  Richard Raymond, Lorelei Kendziora, Spud Maulsby, Clayton Fell, Carla Baldwin

Spud Maulsby moved that Julio Lorenzo be accepted to the SRPFHA Board of Directors to fill the position vacated by June Lee.  Term expires September, 2004.

Clayton Fell seconded.  Motion carried.

Richard Raymond read the October 15, 2003, minutes of the General Membership Meeting.  Clayton made a motion to reflect that the May Day Show will be held on May 8 & 9, instead of May 1 & 2.  Alan Freedman seconded.  Motion carried.

TREASURER'S REPORT:  Lorelei Kendziora reported that the Snowbird Classic was a breakeven show with roughly 70 horses in attendance.

Lorelei reported that she was able to collect an outstanding debt from one of

the Paso Fino farms for the Extravaganza 2002 Show.

Balance in the treasury is $24,000.

Clayton Fell moved to accept the treasurer's report.  Spud seconded.  Motion carried.

Clayton Fell, 2004 Show Chairperson, reported that we have four shows this 2004 season:  El Carnival de Marzo on March 13 & 14; The May Day Show on May 8 & 9; Extravaganza on August 6, 7, 8; and the Snowbird Classic on December 4 & 5.  All four shows will be held at the Ocala Equestrian Center (OEC).

Betsy Bowen has graciously accepted the position of Fun Show Chairperson.  June Lee will be assisting Betsy in her new role.  Alan Freedman offered his farm as a possible Fun Show site on April 17th at his facility in Anthony, Florida.   Ann Ward suggested that a jumping class be added to the Fun Show.  This information will be passed on to Betsy as she was not in attendance at this meeting.

The 2003 Awards Banquet is to be held at the Agricultural Center next to the Southeast Livestock Pavilion in Ocala, Florida, on Wednesday, January 21 at 6:30 p.m.  The Blessing Table will cater the event.  The banquet is free to members and $10 to non-members.  Call Clayton Fell at 352-307-8417 for more details.  Also please check the website for more details.

YOUTH COMMITTEE REPORT:  Carla Baldwin & Julio Lorenzo are awaiting the completion of Marelyn Valdes's arena.  Other possibilities were suggested and will be looked into.  Alan Freedman & Miguel Ramirez will contact Pedro Adrian of Hacienda Four Aces to see about the availability of his facility.

The Flag Team Proposal is being put together by Cathy Maulsby and will be presented at the next Board Meeting on January 14, 2004.

Board Member Nancy Maleske was unable to attend the meeting due to pending surgery the next day.   Richard Raymond gave an update on SRPFHA's new program of Vinyl 3X4 signs of farm logos at a cost of $300 per sign to be displayed at all four of SRPFHA's shows.  The farm supplies the artwork and we do the rest from making to storing to putting up and taking down the sign after each show.  If interested please call Nancy Maleske at 352-369-9916 or e-mail at nancym@fdt.net, for more details on this project.

The PFHA will hold its Board of Directors and Membership Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada on January 23-25, 2004.   Spud Maulsby reported on some of the pertinent rule changes.   Spud asked that if any member of SRPFHA has any concerns or issues with any of the rule change proposals that they e-mail him at shadowhillstables@earthlink.net.

Ann Ward asked about the new membership cards.  Lorelei replied that they will be updated and sent out this weekend, December 20, 2003.

The New Year's Trail Ride was cancelled due to lack of interest.

Spud Maulsby moved to adjourn.  Meeting concluded at 8:43 p.m.

Minutes taken by Carla Baldwin and submitted by Nancy Maleske, as acting

secretary.
